April 2014- My 3rd food sober Easter. Yep! Love it. I abstain from Easter Candy.
March 2010 |
1. Because I used to over eat a lot on Easter Candy. A lot.
2. Because sugar was a trigger
3. Because jelly beans were a binge food
4. Because it was okay to eat a lot of candy at Easter
Sugar was the root cause at Easter.
I never met a peep I didn't
March 2010 |
Why?
1. I choose foods that don't trigger
2. Because I like the new normal.
3. Because the new normal is sweeter than any peep, or jelly bean.
4. Because I deserve it. I deserve to live the next 40 years my way.
If you abstain from Easter candy, please know, you are not alone. Happy Easter!
Coffee will be free flowing! :)

No Easter chocolate here... or hot cross buns. Not sure if you have them there but they were real bad for me :) I did make a lovely low carb dessert last night though and thoroughly enjoyed that.
ReplyDeleteLynda, Yes, we still have hot crossed buns in some bakeries. :) There are regional favorites, too. Hawaiian rolls (sweet bread) are a California tradition with Ham. In Central Indiana it was cinnamon rolls. Ironically, I'm bringing Hawaiian rolls (store bought) to a pot luck dinner. My daughter still has them. As long as no crumbs are left behind as a contaminator, it doesn't even sound tempting to me any more. So, so glad to be at this place in my mind and eating!! :)
DeleteNo chocolate here. My daughter makes a great low carb cheesecake a few times a year. I will indulge in a slice of it, a big cup off coffee with heavy cream.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter!
Running Stitches: Yay for low carb alternatives and coffee with cream... yummy! Happy Easter.
DeleteNo chocolate here either! Going Mountain Biking and out to enjoy nature instead!
ReplyDeleteVanessa, Yeah! I hear you on the mountain biking. I'll be doing an epic hike later today. Cheers for nature and spring. :)
DeleteChocolate here, in the house, but not consuming a morsel! Nor any other Easter candy! Here's to food sobriety! :) Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteI raise my coffee cup to you, Gwen. I can't tell you how good I feel... :)
DeleteThanks for this post and Happy Easter! This is my very first sugar free Easter and it will likely be one of many.

ReplyDeleteI just had Easter dinner with my parents. We ordered hot wings (not breaded) and I brought low-carb lemon ice cream. That was the whole dinner, and all any of us needed.
ReplyDeleteI keep a box of Dark Choc Cherry KIND bars in the kitchen. Couple of times a week I'll have one with coffee for breakfast...22 carbs. Very satisfying not "sweet" and best of all : not trigerring re: sugar.
ReplyDeleteNo Easter candy for me :)
