The months in maintenance are stacking up! |
Current weight: 1.4 pounds below goal
Recent return from vacation: 2.5 pounds over goal weight
Root cause : not tracking food, higher sodium food, and too many golden raisins (fresh from Central Coast, CA)
Corrective action: start tracking food, carbs 50-100g
Preventive action: do not buy more than 1-2 servings of fruit that is that high in sugar at a time while traveling.
I'm still really happy about my commitment to weight maintenance and my ability to look the challenges and changes that life brings and find away to manage them. Yeah! It's taken 40 years to get to this point. Very well worth it. :) Never easy, but easier this time and so worth it. Sweeter than the golden raisins. ;) Karen P.
So thankful I found your blog just as I was reaching maintenance. Your concise and matter-of-fact way of reporting is such an encouragement to me.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sharon. Once you strip away any excuses and emotional stuff, then I find it easier just to look at it as a "process" and having to change up the process. Tricky thing will be when there are multiple root causes. I might ID one root, but my weight graph will show that either my corrective or preventive wasn't quite right. It should work!? I tell myself it will and I can deal when the time comes. ;)
DeleteAs I age and have more medical issues or life changes, I'll have to be really skillful at making my weight maintenance fit and keep it a focus and priority. Life is dynamic. It's so good to be blogging with others that are on the same path... :)
What is that flower please? It's beautiful. I would like to have a start if possible and I will send you a start of something in return.
ReplyDeleteAlso - congratulations on being in charge and on top of things. That little bit of extra weight will be off in not time I am sure.
Take care.
The plant is a succulent. I think this one is in a garden that's not mine. Sorry! I walk a lot in neighborhoods and whip the camera out and take photos. What I can do is post it on Project Noah and let you know the name of the plant. I'll let you know.
DeleteAgree that it is so worth it. Onward we go. :)
ReplyDelete6 1/2 months at goal. That's an achievement, and you haven't back slided. In less than 6 months you can apply to join the National weight loss registry (a research organisation of people who have lost and kept it off).
ReplyDeleteThanks, Me. I have the NWLR on my list of goals next Febuary 2013. I hope that the database will be used to help others keeping their weight off.
DeleteI hope I'm as successful as you six months into my maintenance! You rock!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely worth it! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteawesome :) maintenance is a whole nother world! but I am not freaking like I first did, now it is just habit, and being honest with myself. I don't crave the old food, as long as I eat clean, whole foods
ReplyDeletecongrats :)
