  1. Hi Karen - I didn't know this technology to do interviews via iTunes existed. Wow! Too cool! I just had to listen to Heather for over 15 minutes before she finally got to the interview of yourself. You got about 42 minutes of time so good on you!

    1. Thanks, Mark. Most of my iTunes podcasts use skype & google+ hang outs for the interviews. It's fun to listen to other maintainers interviewed on Heather's podcasts. Very good motivation during the week. Good stuff. I am so hooked on podcasts.

      Thanks for stopping by.

    1. Thanks, Jan- I had such a good time photographing these quail. They were all over the Phoenix Botanic garden and the irrigation and monsoon rains had puddles over the walk ways. The quail are very fast, so I had to stay very still and wait a while to get this photo. :)

  4. Hi Karen! I enjoy your inspiration. I'm going to put off listening to it until the weather turns hotter again. It's cold in Milwaukee in July and I'm just enjoying it to the fullest. LOVING it. So I have no attention span right now for Internet or even just sitting still. I'm frolicking in the cold air--wearing a sweatshirt right now. :D

  6. Hi I just heard you on Heathers podcast. So glad to find you and I will be following your blog. I am wondering tho is your goal weight is what you picked or what your body picked? I have low carbed for years but havent reached my exact goal, more like my body says here it is so here I stay. Loved your interview and love Heathers podcasts. ......another Karen

    1. Great question- another Karen.... Both! I picked a goal weight that was middle of my BMI this time. My other attempt at goal was me white knuckling it at my BMI cut-off between normal weight and obese (and it was not muscle!).

This time, I decided to take about 3-4 extra months and get to mid BMI, closer in weight to other normal weight, shorter family members AND where I remembered a weight plateau from being normal weight and about 15-20 years old, but at the same adult height. My body shape is different at age 47, but I have a natural plateau at 114-116. I extend this to a goal range of 113-117. I may change it if I get very muscular.

If you feel good ( I feel super dialed in around 114-115, and I feel okay up to 117) then that's a good indication.

I also looked at my diet, visceral fat (aka- belly fat), blood work (CRP, glucose, HA1C, HDL) for clues to signs of diabetes, heart disease, etc. It became much more about avoiding disease than a number on the scale.

That being said- I could re-gain quickly if I did not set in a goal weight and practice staying there for a length of time. Slippery Slope thinking....
